Games Night // Rory's Story Cubes Review + Giveaway

We are big readers in this house, and I like to make sure the boys have had a story before bed and that Noah has read his book for at least ten minutes.
So when I saw Rory's Story Cubes at the Toy Fair I knew Noah and even the twins would love them!

Noah is probably the most creative out of the four boys and loves making up stories and drawing pictures, so I knew he would love using the cubes.

I was sat down after my Sunday morning coffee when he brought them out to me asking if we could have a go.

He rolled the cubes first and needed only slight encouragement to be a bit more creative with his story telling.
His first story pretty much just told me what the pictures on the cubes were.
Once he felt at ease with telling me stories, knowing there wasn't any wrong kind of way to tell, he was away in his imagination.

Below was one of his line ups after he rolled.....
Noah's Story

There was an Alien who lived on the other side of the rainbow that one day found a pretty big keyhole.
The Alien .... lets call him Alan had never seen this keyhole before, so he thought he would do a little investigating.
Alan managed to climb through the keyhole and to his surprise on the other side he found a fluffy white sheep.
The sheep looked at Alan, Alan looked at the sheep, Alan felt scared and wanted to go home.
The sheep turned to Alan and ask "Hey, do you know how to use this abacus?" "No" Replied Alan.
The Sheep shrugged his head and went back to eating grass. Alan then ran back through the keyhole back to the other side of the rainbow!

I was pretty impressed with his story and fancied a go myself...

My Story -

Long ago lived a tree fish who had a very bright idea about reading all the books in the world.
Before his mission was through some meanie set them all on fire!
The tree fish had to weigh out his options, should he try to save one of his favourite books or try to save them all.....
Suddenly a giant hand flew out from the sky and put the fire out.
The books were safe and Tree fish was happy, but waiting a minute....where did that giant hand come from?!?!?
Suddenly everything went dark, but luckily for the clever tree fish he never went anywhere with out his flashlight.
On went the light and there he saw an extremely all giant who told him he was the one who helped.
Tree fish thanked the giant and went back to reading all the books in the world!

After we had told a few stories both giggling away, Jon and the twins decided to come over and see what we were up too.

Jon decided he need to have a go...

Jon's story -

Daddy was a driving instructor and when out on lessons, he would pull up at peoples houses and give them a call on his phone.
He would always use his abacus to count up how many pennies the people would have to pay him.
At lunch time daddy would always have an apple, as an apple a day keeps the doctor away!
Whilst eating my daily apple I noticed a shooting star in the sky, but really it wasn't actually a star, it was a ufo and inside that ufo were the aliens who built the pyramids.
I thought about investigating the claims that aliens built the pyramids  but then decided it was time to step back through the magic keyhole and go home!

The twins thought daddy's stories were the best and then they tried to have a go themselves.
They're stories ended up with a lot of poo in them!

I really think these story cubes are a fantastic idea and I love spending time with the boys being creative and having fun!
