If we are honest, the way we start our day can affect the rest of it. Get up on the wrong side of the bed, and you are heading for a disaster of a day. However, no matter how busy you say your mornings are, or how stressed you feel, it is possible for things to go smoothly. It all starts with how you kick start your day. When the alarm goes off, get up

Are you one of those people who constantly hits the snooze button on your alarm? You are not the only one who does it. However, there are some real negative effects to doing this. Sure, you get that extra five minutes in bed, but is it worth it? Every time you snooze you alarm you doze back off into a blissful sleep, for what seems like seconds, then you are abruptly woken once more. If you are not a morning person anyway, why would you want to repeat the whole “wake up” process several times in one go? When it is put it like that, you may as well just get up the moment you are woken. You will feel much better for it.

Stretch as you wake up

As you start to come round and sit up, it’s important to ensure you do some stretches. It will help start to wake your body up. Stretch your arms, your chest and move your head gently. Once you are up, stretch up as high as you can. Doing this can wake up our mind and also releases any stress or tension built up in your muscles during your sleep.

Avoid your phone

Many people wake up and reach for your phone, but this isn't the most productive way to start your day. Avoiding social media gives you time to come around and focus on your day ahead. It’s important not to be distracted by what everyone else is doing.

Be organised

Getting up and dressed is tough enough, but when children are involved, and you have The School Run to do, it can get quite hectic. So it is essential to be organised. If you want to shower try and do this the night before. If you have lunches to make up then prepare in advance. Do any little thing that can save you those precious moments in the morning the night before. It allows you to focus on the job in hand first thing. Like getting the children to brush their teeth or put on their uniform.

Work on your positive affirmations

Many of us can wake up with that dread of the day ahead. But again the negative focus can have a huge impact on your day. Try and wake up and think positively. Even telling yourself how awesome the day is going to be. Make your morning about positivity and see what kind of knock on effect it can have. You will be surprised.

Don’t skip breakfast

Finally, we all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day but yet we still somehow skip it. Try and ensure you have something first thing. It can keep you full throughout the morning and ensure your concentration levels stay where they should be. Plus it’s great for your metabolism, and even losing weight. Who knew?

I hope these tips help you kick start your day in the right way.
