Dettol Baby Blanket Donation....can you help a baby in need?

Having had 4 babies, I have a lot of blankets around the house, some of them not even used!

They don't just provide a warming comfort to your babe they become a big deal to them. (Well mine anyway)
Noah slept with his blanket until he was 5 and still occasionally sleeps with it now

The twins still have a big attachment to theirs and take them everywhere with them, sometimes they turn them into super hero capes and fly everywhere

And Ru still of course has his

So when I heard Dettol was doing the baby blanket I thought what a fantastic campaign and was eager to jump on board!

Below is all about the campaign, I know like me once you finish reading you'll be digging out all your spare baby blankets and sending them off.

Dettol Anti-bacterial Laundry Cleanser and UK children’s medical research charity, Sparks, are working together to make a difference to children’s health both at home and abroad. We are asking you to help make a difference to young lives by donating your used baby blankets and ‘keep the memories, not the bacteria’. For every blanket collected, £1 will be donated to Sparks to help to improve children’s health in the UK.

Why baby blankets?
Baby blankets symbolise a very special time in both a mother and child’s life, holding many precious memories of the early days of life. However, many babies across the world will never get the chance to experience even the simple comfort that a warm, hygienically clean blanket brings.

Every minute of every day, approximately 50 babies are born into poverty and will experience conditions lacking basic essentials including hygienically clean blankets. This is your chance to make a difference to the health of those children, as well as raise money to improve the health of babies in the UK.
We are pleased to announce that Rachel Stevens is the new ambassador of Dettol Anti-bacterial Laundry Cleanser supporting the Dettol Baby Blanket Donation. Rachel has very kindly donated the first blanket to the campaign and will be working with us to help make a difference to underprivileged children both in the UK and abroad.

Why 'Keep the memories, not the bacteria'?

Laundry-Cleanser-Donate-UK
Laboratory tests commissioned by Dettol - on washed blankets donated by volunteer mums - show that baby 'blankies' carry a variety of bacteria even after a 40°C wash. In-fact, a third of the washed blankets harboured coliforms – a group of bacteria linked to faeces. The good news is that Dettol Anti-bacterial Laundry Cleanser kills 99.9% of bacteria even at temperatures as low as 30oC, so while you can safely wash away the bacteria, your memories will last forever!

How to help – share your memories, donate a blanket and we will ditch the bacteria
Dettol and Sparks are calling out to mums across the UK to “keep the memories, not the bacteria”. Simply post us a baby blanket to the Freepost address shown at the top of the page, then share on Facebook with Dettol's Mission for Health your special baby blanket memories and photographs. Or tweet @DettolBlanket remembering to include the hash tag #sharethememories. Once collected, Dettol Anti-bacterial Laundry Cleanser will ditch the bacteria by ensuring the baby blankets are hygienically washed before being re-distributed to families in need. Dettol Anti-bacterial Laundry Cleanser has also pledged to donate £1 to Sparks for every blanket collected to raise much needed funds for UK families who are affected by serious illness or disability.
